"I've Been With Matt Gardner State Farm Firm For Several Years Now, Had A Really Good Agent Named Kevin Who Always Made Sure One Was Being Covered In All Avenues With Insurance To Best Suit Your Financial Well Being. I Then Had A Sit Down With An Agent Named Brian After The Purchasing Of A Home, He Introduced Me To The Final Piece Of The Puzzle (Umbrella Policy) Covers Just About Everything. "I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding a recent experience with State Farm. I have been a loyal customer, holding an auto insurance policy with your company. For the past term, my six-month premium was $780. However, upon renewal this year, my premium was unexpectedly increased by $200 — bringing the total to $980 — without any explanation or changes on my end. I contacted your customer support to understand the reason behind this significant increase, but to my surprise, the representative was unable to provide any justification. Instead, I was advised to "go and appeal to the Insurance Commissioner" if I had concerns. This response was not only unhelpful but also dismissive, and it reflects poorly on the standards of customer service I had come to expect from State Farm. As a policyholder, I believe I have the right to transparency and respectful communication. Sudden increases in premiums without a clear reason or communication erode customer trust and loyalty. I respectfully request: A detailed explanation of the reason behind the premium increase. An internal review of how such matters are being handled by your customer service team. Consideration for a premium adjustment if this increase is found to be unjustified. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed with the level of professionalism State Farm is known for. I would appreciate a response at your earliest convenience."
We responded:
"Alpesh, Office notes indicate that you called into my office today at roughly 3:13pm. You spoke to a licensed representative who answered your questions in which you were unhappy with his response. He then alerted my management team regarding the concerns in regard to your policies. At 3:48pm a member of my management team with 15 years of State Farm experience reached out to you to conduct a review of all of your policies. Her note states that a voicemail was left for you and we requested a call back to conduct the review. We did not receive a call back from you to complete the policy review, instead we get notification of this negative google review at 4:27pm. Questions regarding your policies sometimes require calling internal departments so that we can provide you a specific explanation or response in regard to your policies. Premium increases or decreases are not handled at the agency level. They are determined by state rate filings and other factors that are influenced from our actuarial model and underwriting departments. From a rate filing standpoint, State Farm has raised their rates the least over the past 5 years compared to top competitors in the industry. Demanding immediate answers with regard to policy rating is tough for any insurance office. Just give us the chance to investigate your situation so that we can give you a proper response. My ask of you is that you give my office a call back tomorrow to speak to a member of my management team so that we can conduct a thorough policy review with you as we tried to do this afternoon."

"I recently switched (4) commercial policies to Matt Gardner State Farm and it turned into a big waste of time. Everything started off okay, I sent Bryan the declaration pages to my previous insurer and answered some questions. Just a few days later he told me he was able to save me money on all 4 policies (over $2k annually) even though I added an additional vehicle. Soon after the policies were put into affect, Bryan reached out with another list of questions that needed to be answered ASAP. At This point, It had been weeks since I paid for coverage/service and had nothing to show for it. I needed COIs (Certificate of Insurance) sent to the local jurisdictions prior to canceling my previous insurance, he was unable to produce the COIs. After arguing back and forth, he finally sent the COI's. The COIs were getting turned down by the local jurisdictions because the coverage/amounts didn't meet the requirements...This was strange considering he had the declarations and COIs from the previous insurer. At this point I reached out to my previous insurance provider and started bringing policies back to them because Matt Gardner State Farm started sending me notices of rate increase and policy cancellation. Prior to leaving State Farm I tried to call and leave a message for Matt Gardner but Bryan returned my call, we couldn't save the business relationship. I'm no longer with State Farm nor do I plan on going back. In addition, Matt Gardner State Farm sent a notice stating they will not refund my workman's comp payment until we complete an audit. We haven't received any information on the audit or submitting any information. Update: still nothing on the audit/refund for workman’s comp. In addition, we’re now receiving registration suspension notices from the MVA for not having automotive insurance while we were covered by State Farm. I emailed this reminder on February 18 and no response. “Hey Bryan, I need you to update the insurance information with the MVA. I received a notice in the mail, they need to see proof of insurance from 12-20-2024 to 01-15-2025. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks, -Shane”"

"Shane, I apologize for your frustration with the process of switching your business insurance over to our office to save over $2,000 annually. Once applications for new policies are submitted through our office they go to our corporate underwriting department for review. In the process of underwriting new policies it is common that additional questions arise before the policies are issued and mailed to you. If the questions from our underwriting department are not responded to in a timely manner then adverse action or cancellation of policies may take place. I am sorry that the underwriting questions were more than anticipated. You will receive any refunds owed from the cancellations of your policies. Update (I have provided the same response under your wife Melanie's review as this is the same situation): "Management in my office reached out to your household on 2/12/25 to address your concerns and see if there was anything else that we could help you with after seeing your husbands 1* review. Our office did not receive a call back from your household." "It is protocol in our office to respond to all emails within 24 hours. If there is an instance when we do not there is typically an away message on the office representatives email directing any customer to call the office for service at 410-838-1010 if they are out of the office or unavailable for any reason. I do not see any notes in my system showing that any phone calls were placed to the office to address your situation. I apologize for the lack of communication pertaining to this situation as Bryan has been out of the office taking care of emergency personal family matters. Although we do have 14 other licensed insurance professionals in our offices to take care of your needs if you give us a call at 410-838-1010." Melanie called into the office yesterday and FR-19's were processed accordingly. The office management team also reached out after the situation was taken care of to see if we could address any additional questions or concerns and our office did not receive a call back. "

"I switched my personal auto policy to State Farm a few months back and since it resulted in a cost savings, I recommended my husband get a quote for our business insurance. We ended up switching to State Farm and it’s been an absolute disaster to say the least. We ended up switching back to our previous business insurance provider, who are more expensive but competent. My husband received a notice from the MVA requiring proof of insurance on his business vehicles. He sent an email to Bryan Gamble asking him to provide proof of insurance of February 18th. Picture of email below. Bryan never did so now the registration plates have been suspended on all of the work trucks. I’m pricing out insurance now to switch my personal policy as I no longer want them having any of our insurance policies after this experience."
